Is tooth paste really effective for remineralization?
All most everyone uses tooth paste without knowing what it does.
It removes plaque, eliminates stains, and prevents halitosis.
Remineralization is one of important function to prevent our teeth from caries.
Several studies showed that chemical compound in tooth paste, stannous fluoride, forms protective barrier on enamel surface.(Arifa.2019) This remineralization of enamel structure prevents our teeth from caries, acid erosion, and other damages from bacteria. (Fiorillo,2020)
Tooth paste containing functionalized tri-calcium phosphate (fTCP) also works with fluoride for remineralization. (Hamba, 2020) Study showed that fluoride with fTCP had most effective agent which makes significant remineralization outcome.
